Run. Hike. Ride. The trails are always open!

Trails of the Tweed Valley

The Tweed Valley is criss-crossed by a thousand trails. Ok, so we’ve not counted, but the volume of trails to run, hike and ride is too numerous to count. There’s a trail for everyone. Whether you like a short run, walk or ride that starts and ends at a coffee shop, or you want to spend hours in the hills away from civilisation without meeting another soul for hours, you’ll find a trail to enjoy.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking in Tweed Valley is huge! People travel from far and wide to come ride here as the trails and facilities are second to none. We are home to the popular Glentress and Innerleithen trail centres, as well a wide network of cross country trails and gravel tracks that stretch across the hills and valleys that surround the meandering River Tweed. Whatever your skill level you’ll not be disappointed.

Trail Running

The Tweed Valley has long been a hidden gem for trail runners. The hills and terrain provide the perfect challenge whatever your level of fitness and trail running ability … and all you need is a grippy pair of trail shoes and a sense of adventure to get away from the drudgery of road running! (Just kidding, we like road running too!)

If you are new to trail running but don’t want to venture out on your own, get in touch and we can recommend a local trail running guide to suit your needs. This is a great way to get to know the area.

Hill Walking

The hills around the Tweed Valley are a hill walkers dream! Whilst there isn’t the height of the Scottish Highlands, nor the broodiness of the Cairngorms, the hills of the Scottish Borders should not be underestimated. It doesn’t take long before you get that awe inspiring sense of isolation and remoteness exploring the miles of trails that stretch across the landscape.

As you walk, listen out for the dancing song of the skylark or spot a golden eagle soaring on the thermals high above your head!
